Throughout the year, GIST holds several grantmaker briefings on important developments related to poverty, income security and asset development. These meetings include presentations by leading national thinkers, 
practitioners, and advocates, as well as special strategy sessions for grantmakers to discuss how to advance their work both individually and collectively. Annual events include:
- Budget and Tax Briefing for Grantmakers in late Winter
- Policy Briefing for Grantmakers in late Fall
Additional activities are scheduled as needed to respond to emerging opportunities or needs. These may include virtual meetings (audio conferences or webinars), developing working papers on topics of interest, and continuing to attend and make presentations at meetings of other grantmaker affinity groups.
